FEATURED EVENTS Lighter Classics: Young at Heart Thursday, May 15, 2008 - 8PM Alain Trudel, conductor Sara Davis Buechner, piano Everyone’s been young once, and we’ve assembled familiar tunes with the insouciance and charm being young brings to mind. Two popular Canadian performers, Alain Trudel and Sara Davis Buechner, join the ESO. Highlights include Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Britten's A Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, Dohnányi's Variations on a Nursery Song and a youthful Mozart Concert Rondo. Masters: Beethoven, Mozart & Kuerti Friday, May 23, 2008 - 7:30 PM Saturday, May 24, 2008 - 8:00 PM David Atherton, conductor Anton Kuerti, piano Edmonton Symphony Orchestra BEETHOVEN: Coriolan Overture, Op.62 MOZART: Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat Major, K.482 VAUGHAN WILLIAMS: Symphony No. 2 in G Major “London” An icon of the Canadian music scene, Anton Kuerti once again takes to the Winspear stage for Mozart’s noble Piano Concerto No. 22. Celebrated British conductor David Atherton returns as well, leading the ESO in Beethoven’s dramatic Coriolan Overture, and in a work celebrating the city of London, Vaughan Williams’ Symphony No. 2.
